What a fabulous time we had caving with Iain. We were once keen and very active cavers whilst at Uni, but life got in the way and almost 20 years later we were able to come back to Ingleton and visit Browgill with Iain – an extremely friendly and professional leader whose knowledge of the local cave systems helped us relive some of the trips we had all those years ago. Iain was brilliant with our son, Alex, 10, who was keen to go on his first proper adventure underground, having visited White Scar Show Cave a few days earlier. We had a thoroughly enjoyable few hours underground and would absolutely recommend a trip with Iain of KMS for his enthusiasm and passion for the great outdoors!

Fantastic afternoon with Iain. Expert tuition and as a father of two young children I had every confidence in his guidance on this exhilarating activity, with the potential for accidents with less assured guides. Weather was very wet and cold but all three of us had a fantastic time and I'd definitely recommend Kendal Mountaineering for a fun, professional day in the Lake District.

Myself and 8 others recently spent an afternoon Ghyll scrambling as part of my friend Daniels Stag do. KMS we’re great at helping me organise the event and the scrambling itself was really well organised with the correct equipment and guidance provided by Iain. The weather was cold and wet which when added to scrambling down a cold wet Ghyll made it an even greater challenge which we all enjoyed, providing much to talk about in the evening out afterwards! Myself and four friends have just completed the two day navigation course, Iain is possibly one of the most patient people I have met,we were all complete novices but after just a few hours we started to feel like we had a good grasp of it.

I would have no hesitation of recommending this course, superb value for money! Oh and we have all purchased multiple OS maps… Watch out on the fells!

During our Winter Skills course with Iain, he made best use of the conditions to cover a broad range of basic skills. Rather than be a slave to a syllabus, Iain uses his experience to determine which skills and techniques are taught in any given location and snow conditions, giving the course a more relaxed and enjoyable feel…apart from being dangled head first, upside down for the ice axe breaking practice, of course! A useful, enjoyable and entertaining 2 day course with a very capable and personable instructor with a robust sense of humour.

With a planned week on the Cuillin Ridge with my son, I wanted to ensure I had the necessary rope/scrambling skills to ensure we could safely tackle the various peaks. Just spent 1 day learning trad climbing techniques with Iain in Langdale. Iain clearly really knows his stuff and was a great teacher on all aspects of gear placement and anchor set-up. He also took the time to take lots of photos as a reminder of the way to set up the gear- these are really helpful. We now definitely want to do more trad!

Myself and partner had a great weekend scrambling in Wales, learning loads and pushing ourselves on some more serious terrain. Throughout the course we felt we were in good hands and that we really got the most from our two days away. From location knowledge through to technical understanding it is clear Iain has tonnes of experience and is very good at passing it onto his clients. Won’t be long before we book our next course!!
