I took part in a scrambling course that was booked for 6 people, all members of the Cambridge University Hillwalking Club. Iain and Scott took 2 groups of 3 people each, the first day near Glenridding, and the second day, near Langdale in the Lake District. We spent 2 days learning how to scramble safely, using rope techniques. Iain was a very interesting and patient instructor, and we learnt a great deal with him, and in a safe way. I highly recommend this course!

Iain took a team of us Ghyll Scrambling at Seatoller in the Lake District. We were all completely new to Ghyll Scrambling and as a team, we had never met one another before.

With his tuition and guidance throughout the day, Iain helped us to bond with one another and by the end of a fantastic session we were a proper team with some great memories that will stick with us for years to come.

I would highly recommend a Ghyll Scramble with Kendal Mountaineering Services to anyone and I would love to do it all over again!

We had a half day climbing course with Iain in the Langdales. It was brilliant. He is an excellent instructor and guide. We learnt a lot and I felt we were in very safe hands. If you want to climb and you need a guide it”s so hard find the right person. We hit the jackpot with Iain and I would highly recommend him to all standards of climbers, children and adults. I have been on mountaineering trips to the Alps and Scottish Winter Mountaineering courses with different adventure companies, Iain outshines them all. We will definitely be calling him when we come to the Lakes again next year. Thank you Iain

Had a great afternoon ghyll scrambling near Langdale with Iain, my children thought it was amazing & the scenes where beautiful! I would recommend everyone doing this, it was a active but fun day with my family. We will be trying another course next time we visit the lakes! Thanks Iain

Had a really fun day climbing with my 6 year old son. It was a beautiful location, Ollie got lots of climbing done and got his first taste of climbing outdoors! The crag was just the right level of difficulty, a bit tricky for Ollie in the morning but by the end of the day had got to the top 10 times on a variety of routes. He was a very happy boy! Iain spent some time with me showing how to set up the top rope etc. It was a perfect day. Tell lain what you want and he will deliver.

I took my daughter ghyll scrambling in the Esk Gorge with Kendal Mountaineering Services. We had a thoroughly good time, especially doing the numerous jumps into the ghyll. I will be telling everyone I know to get in touch with Iain when they visit the Lakes.

Absolutely Brilliant!! I'd like to start by saying just what a down to earth,decent guy Iain is, he took me and a group of friends for a multi pitch trad climbing course in Langdale.

We had a fantastic day learning everything we needed to get started trad climbing, with very clear and helpful instruction.

Iain is a very good teacher he didn’t just tell us what to do, he gave us a good understanding of why and how things worked.

I was really surprised just how much we fit into our day and how much we all learned so it was really worth every penny. We will definitely be back for another course in the future. Thanks.

Two day mountain navigation course with Iain left me feeling 1000 percent more confident about my ability to find my way safely about the fells, especially in poor visibility. Absolutely fantastic walk to Langdale Pikes and High Raise with the Iain who escorted me. Despite relatively sporty and active, I wasn’t too sure what to expect but Iain pitched the walk just to the right level and was very patience when I wasn’t 100% sure I could ascend to a certain peak. I felt suitably challenged and accomplished on our return. I am so fortunate to have seen such spectacular views of the Lake District and without Iain it would not have been possible. Thoroughly recommendable and without a doubt the best part of my trip to the area.
