Bowderstone Quarry - The Bowderstone Quarry is a purpose built site for Abseiling. The abseil is about 80 feet high and starts from a purpose built area. If you've not tried this incredible adrenalin producing activity before, then this is a great place to give it a go in complete safety with one of our Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Instructors! Hause Gill - Hause Gill also gets known as Honister gill. It is accessed from Seatoller at the head of the beautiful Borrowdale Valley. This is a great gill for groups of all ages, families. Stag & Hen Groups or Corporate Clients - we've been there with all of them, many tines! Shepherd's Crag - Shepherds Crag in Borrowdale is steeped in climbing history and is one of the best known rock climbing venues in the The Lake District - if not in England. There are climbs here for people of all ages and abilities. We can run you introductory climbing sessions at a number of locations at Shepherd's Crag and we can also arrange for you to be guided up a classic route of your choice - such as Little Chamonix for example. Great Douk - Great a Douk is one of a number of cave systems all accessed from close to Ribblehead and is great for a half day caving adventure. The "through trip" is challenging, but short and a worthwhile experience in Summer if the water levels are low. Sunset Hole - Sunset Hole is an "in & out the same way" level 1 cave accessed from the footpath running from The B6255 near the Old Hill Inn to the summit of Ingleborough Hill. It is best combined with a visit to Great Douk and/or High Douk Holes to make a full day of Caving in The Yorkshire Dales.

Coniston Water - Coniston Water in the English county of Cumbria is the third-largest lake in the Lake District by volume, and the fifth-largest by area. It is five miles long by half a mile wide. Exploring Coniston Water by Canadian Canoe or Kayak is a great way to spend a day. There are plenty of parking spots along the wooded east shore of the lake and also at Brown Howe on the south west shore. Visit Peel Island (aka Wild Cat Island in Arthur Ransomes book "Swallows & Amazons") and learn about The Bluebird Disaster which happened here on January 4th 1967. Coniston Water is one of the area's most peaceful lakes and a recommended venue for our Kayaking Sessions.

Church Beck - Church Beck is one of the best known canyoning venues in The Lake District, approached by a short walk from Coniston Village. There are jumps up to 8 metres in height into deep pools, a waterslide and several abseils down waterfalls and even a roped climb up a waterfall. Curved Ridge, Buachaille Etive Mor - Curved Ridge is a classic route up one of Scotland's best known mountains. Buachaille Etive Mor - the "Great Shepherd of Glen Etive" stands, like a sentinel as you approach Glen Coe from Rannoch Moor, Curved Ridge goes straight up its eastern face winding up past Rannoch Wall and over Crowberry Tower to finish on Stob Dearg, the summit of the mountain. Whether done in Summer or Winter, this is one of the finest mountaineering routes of it's grade anywhere in the country! Dorsal Arete, Stob Coire An Lochan - Dorsal Arete is a fantastic Winter climb and low in the grade at grade II. The route starts off as a broad buttress and tapers to a narrow arete just below its top. Dorsal Arete is a great venue to learn the techniques of winter climbing, anchor placements and stance management and whilst the walk in is long, it is most definitely worth the effort. Sron Na Lairig - Sron Na Lairig is a great 300 metre long three star grade II Winter route. It is a great place to go when other winter mountaineering routes in the area may be avalanche prone. The ridge rises from the head of the Lairig Eilde Valley and is a 3 mile/4 kilometre walk in from the parking area on the A82: it is, however, well worth that walk in. As with all of our winter courses, an early start is required. The Aonach Eagach Winter Traverse - A traverse of the Aonach Eagach (Notched Ridge) is on the bucket list of most aspiring mountaineers. This 5 mile/8 kilometre traverse is a serious undertaking and a long day out on a technical and exposed ridge graded at 2 in winter conditions. There are two Munro summits to take in along the way and some exposed and exciting scrambling along the 1.5mile/2.5 kilometre of the ridge proper. Read on to find out more. The Zig Zags, Gearr Aonach. - The Zig Zags make a great introduction to winter mountaineering at grade II. This route weaves up the eastern side of the middle sister - Gearr Aonach through bands of cliffs to arrive atop a long ridge ultimately leading to the summit of Stob Coire An Lochan. Low down on the mountain, this route is easily accessed from the A 82 in little over half an hour and can be a great place to play and learn useful skills on a day when the weather is raging amongst the summits. It is equally as good in descent as ascent. Winter Skills Training Courses - These two day Winter Skills Training Courses take place in Glen Coe in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland each January, February & March. The courses are run at a number of locations in the area depending on the conditions of the snow and ice.

Stickle Ghyll - Stickle Ghyll is one of The Lake District's best Ghyll Scrambling/Gorge Walking venues situated in the Valley of Langdale. There are deep pools for swimming, waterfalls to be climbed and 2 kilometres of gorge to be explored. There is ample parking within two minutes walking of this ghyll scrambling/gorge walking venue and refreshments available at the nearby Sticklebarn Tavern and New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.

Upper Scout Crag - Upper Scout Crag in Great Langdale is a fantastic multi-pitch rock climbing venue with several low grade multi-pitch rock climbs suitable for enjoying your first day out on rock. Calf Holes & Browgill Cave - Our Calf Holes/Browgill Caving experience is an excellent progression from introductory caving to the challenges you'll encounter on some of our harder potholing excursions. Straightaway - you'll find yourself descending an 8 metre/27 foot vertical pitch and then journeying downstream to emerge on Browgill Cave via The Slot. On return, we detour through The Letterbox and back at the pitch foot, you'll learn how to climb back out using a caving ladder.

Twistleton Scar - Twistleton Scar Introductory Rock Climbing Venue is an ideal place to book in conjunction with a half day of caving at Ribblehead and sits on the west side of the Chapel Le Dale Valley facing Ingleborough Hill. A great limestone venue with lots of short climbs - both easy and hard and also a good venue for trying out Abseiling for the first time too!

Kendal

Kentmere - The Kentmere Horseshoe Wren Gill, Longsleddale - Wren Gill in Longsleddale is the closest venue to Kendal and the M6 for Ghyll Scrambling/Gorge Walking and canyoning. The venue offers a good two kilometres of ghyll scrambling fun and if you fancy going downstream this venue has also been bolted for a Canyoning descent with over 5 abseil descents down waterfalls. The venue is suitable for half day (4 hour) session of either Ghyll Scrambling/Gorge Walking or Canyoning or why not combine a Ghyll Scrambling ascent and a Canyoning descent here to make a full day out? You'll just love it!

Kingsdale

Rowten Pot Valley Entrance & Kingsdale Master Cave - Valley Entrance in Kingsdale is a 1 & 1/2 hour level 1 caving trip through a long, low and at times, very wet passageway. However, one can add a further three hours to the experience and try out a Level 2 caving experience by descending the 7 metres pitch in to Kingsdale Master Cave - a large stream washed passage which leads on, via one of two routes to the Swinsto Great Aven - a massive underground shaft shooting up into darkness. A round trip in via South East Passage and exiting via Philosopher's Crawl adds challenge to this great underground adventure. If you are looking for a real caving adventure then this trip is worth every penny! Yordas Pot

Kirkby Lonsdale

Hutton Roof - Hutton Roof is a great little "out of the way" Rock Climbing venue that we use that is easily accessed only ten minutes from the M6/A65 at Junction 36. The crag faces south east and is of Limestone. It can frequently be a warm & pleasant place to climb when the weather in The Lake District is not good, it also gets less visitors and is very easy to get to. Ideal as an introductory climbing venue for families with small children.

Long Scar - Long Scar is a high mountain crag with outstanding views to the south over to the Coniston Fells . It is often sheltered from northerly winds and is a long, low crag with many great little rock climbs and is an ideal venue for an introduction to rock climbing. Occasionally, we will travel to this venue if our introductory Rock Climbing Venues in Langdale are busy; or you can choose to have your Introductory Rock Climbing Session at this venue if you want to enjoy an exhilarating drive followed by a short mountain walk to a stunning venue in a great location!

Ribblehead

Runscar & Thistle Caves - Another of our Introductory Caving Venues in The Yorkshire Dales. Runscar & Thistle Caves are a great place to take children for their first Caving Experience. Located close to the famous Ribblehead Viaduct on the Carlisle to Settle Line, there is ample parking and it is only a short distance to the entrance to both caves.

Thornhow Crag, Grisedale - This great little introductory climbing venue is situated in Patterdale in the Ullswater area an is only a ten minute drive from Glenridding Village. If you are staying in the Ullswater area and would like to try Rock Climbing and/or Abseiling, then Thornhow Crag is a great place to take your first steps on to real Lake District rock!

Ullswater - Canadian Canoeing - Ullswater is located south east of Penrith and can be accessed via the A592 in about 20 minutes from Junction 40 on the M6. The Lake is 8 miles long and is a great venue for a full or half day of Canadian Canoeing set in some of the best scenery The Lake District has to offer.

Upper Eskdale

The Esk Gorge - The Esk Gorge is The Lake District's best Ghyll Scrambling/gorge walking Venue by far. The River Esk drains a large area of ground under England's highest mountains and consists of a rocky ravine 3 kilometres long where there are endless opportunities for swimming through pools and climbing up waterfalls as well as taking on the challenge of launching yourself into thin air to jump into some of the deepest pools to be found anywhere in the area. The Esk Gorge is a full day activity and absolutely brilliant fun. Be prepared to feel challenged and exhilarated on this - one of the best Lake District adventures we have on offer for you!
