Excellent value Navigation Skills Training weekend coming up - March 30th & 31st, 2019

navigation-skills-training-lake-district-two.jpgWell, it's only just over a couple of weekends away, but it's worth reminding you that the first of our 2019 series of excellent value Mountain Navigation Skills Training Courses is all set to run during the weekend of March 30th & 31st!

We have a few places remaining and would ideally like to get them filled. The cost per person is only £80.00 per person for a place on one of these two day 16 hour Navigation Skills Training Courses in The Lake District.

  • Navigation Skills training provided by a Lakes based Mountaineering Instructor with of 40 years experience of working in the mountains of the UK and abroad and almost 30 years experience of professional coaching and instruction.

 

 

 

  • map-reading-one.jpgThe opportunity to learn essential map reading & Navigation Skills in an informal setting as part of a group in a relaxed environment. The course is about enjoyment, having fun and learning Navigation Skills without feeling under pressure.
  • Some prior map reading experience preferable - but not essential! With everyone, we go right back to basics starting with one of the singly most important aspects of Navigation - Orientation of the map with a compass, as the start to a "progressive" course.
  • Comprehensive Syllabus covered providing Navigation Skills Coaching up to Summer Mountain-walking Leader Standard. Read about what is covered on these courses here.

  • Two days of Navigation Skills Coaching in a real setting. On day one you'll be working on upland terrain to over 1000 feet. On day two you will be working on high lakeland mountains where there may be the opportunity to bag two Lakeland Wainwright summits.

Where is the course run?  From Staveley in the southern Lake District which is the meeting point on both days. We meet in the car park outside of Wilf's Cafe in Mill Yard (LA8 9LR for Satnav purposes) Day one is run on Green Quarter Fell just north of Staveley. Day two is run a few miles further north on the east side of The Kentmere Horseshoe.
