20th June 2020. Lakes Outdoor Experience re-opens for Outdoor Activity and Skills Training Course day visits to The Lake District.
19 April, 2024: The current Government advice and legislation regarding the Covid 19 Pandemic now allows you to meet in groups of six persons not from the same household provided social distancing measures are observed. Lakes Outdoor Experience has decided to resume offering outdoor activity and skills training sessions to the general public for groups of up to five persons. This may be of particular interest to family groups. Please be aware, however, that current guidelines do state that you must return to your home each evening and all types of accommodation options for visitors to The Lake District remain closed!

19 April, 2024: Corona Virus is leading to difficult times in the UK. We are all being told to stay away from large gatherings and groups of people to reduce our chance of picking up this illness. But surely, what better way to do that than to head to the great outdoors and immerse yourself in the beauty of The Lake District and do that whilst having your very own private adventure with us on the river, on lakes, on crags, in the mountains! You won't be exposed to large groups of people on our courses and fresh air & exercise can only reduce your risk of contracting this illness!

19 April, 2024: Yesterday, Iain collected Irnie & Liz Sollinger from Massachusetts who were staying at The Linthwaite House Hotel. The couple wanted a half day of walking and wanted to experience some typical Lakeland scenery. Iain knew exactly where to take them!

19 April, 2024: Last week, we spent another three days supporting a second Prince's Trust Residential Experience in The Yorkshire Dales. Activities included Rock Scrambling at Brimham Rocks, a visit to Malham , a caving experience in Nidderdale, raft building on Ripley Lake and some fun on the ropes course at Ripley Castle. Great fun was had by all!
Ghyll Scrambling Sessions in The Lake District
19 April, 2024: Last Sunday morning, Iain received a phone-call - would it be possible to do some ghyll scrambling that afternoon? His response - "Well, yes of course it would!"
So Iain met Dan Woodall with his girlfriend & mates at Morrisons Superstore at a quarter to two; and this is what we got up to next!

19 April, 2024: James Pugh booked a full day caving experience in The Yorkshire Dales for himself and girlfriend Lizzie. Due to the weather, we finished up doing only a half day session, but the pair still had a great time!

Guided Walking in The Lake District. An ascent of Scafell Pike. Saturday, 12th January 2019
19 April, 2024: Yesterday was a tough day to be contemplating a guided ascent of Scafell Pike in The Lake District, but clients Shaun & Hayley Glover were as keen as mustard! That was just as well as the forecast was for strong winds, low cloud, continual drizzle and high wind chill on the tops. It was hard work, but the pair, with Iain, succeeded in reaching the summit of England's highest mountain; and returning safely. A real achievement given the conditions so a big WELL DONE! to Shaun & Hayley for their commitment and hard graft.

19 April, 2024: A report about a great day's Scrambling Skills Refresher Training with returning client Darren Willis and his business partner Wayne in the Coniston area of The Lake District. You can see by the cover photo that Darren remembered well what to do as he belayed Wayne up the slippery bed of Low Water Beck.

19 April, 2024: Ghyll Scrambling in The Lake District - on December 30th!! Normally, it would be ill advised to attempt this "warmer weather pastime" at this time of year. However, it was so mild just before The New Year that, actually, it was okay to go and get wet in a mountain stream and this family loved the experience!

The Lake District National Park Authority Approve Rydal Estates Application to turn the Walna Scar Car Park into a 58 bay Pay and Display car park!
19 April, 2024: Folks you have but TWO DAYS TO ACT! The Lake District National Park Authority would appear, despite the best efforts of the outdoor community, to have granted approval to the Rydal Estates plan to turn the Walna Scar Car Park above Coniston Village into a pay & display car park. An application has now been made under Section 38 of the Commons Act 2006; the deadline for comments to support or oppose the application under the Commons Act is 14 December 2017.
